On the morning of October 16, Li Auto announced that its Beijing green intelligent manufacturing base has officially started construction in Shunyi District, Beijing. It is reported that the production base will use 60% of the original Beijing Hyundai No. 1 factory and transform it. The entire project will invest more than 6 billion yuan and is scheduled to be put into production by the end of 2023. After being put into production, the first phase will achieve an annual production capacity of 100,000 pure electric vehicles.
According to the official introduction, in terms of transformation, the Beijing Green Smart Factory will adopt domestic new environmentally friendly and efficient production processes. The stamping workshop uses a high-speed steel-aluminum hybrid fully-automatic stamping line. By establishing a single-piece identification system, the quality of the stamping parts can be traced throughout the entire manufacturing cycle. The welding workshop has more than 600 robots, which can realize flexible production of 4 models on the same line. , the connection automation rate has reached 100%; the coating workshop adopts the industry's most environmentally friendly film pre-treatment + B1B2 free intermediate coating process, and the emission level reaches the international and industry high standards; the final assembly workshop adopts full workshop electric tightening technology, Critical torque quality is 100% traceable. We have planned an intelligent logistics system, unmanned electrical inspection and automatic driving warehousing technology for off-line vehicles to create a highly automated intelligent flexible production line.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Beijing Ideal Auto Co., Ltd. used the pure electric passenger car intelligent manufacturing factory built by the former Beijing Hyundai Factory No. 1 to renovate and expand the total area to 270,000 square meters. , the adoption rate reaches 60%, maximizing the utilization of existing factory resources. "For Li Auto, it can expand production capacity in the shortest time and ensure the smooth realization of its plan to launch pure electric models in 2023. For Beijing Hyundai, it will help it optimize its production capacity and asset structure and concentrate on development."
Previously, Li Auto disclosed its subsequent new car plan during the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing hearing. It will launch a new "X" platform in 2022 and launch an all-new car. A large-sized luxury smart extended-range electric SUV, and two SUVs of the same power type will be launched in 2023. On the other hand, Li Auto's pure electric models will begin layout in 2023. The new cars will be developed based on the Whale and Shark platforms, and at least two pure electric models will be launched every year. The first batch of models should also be SUVs.
Li Xiang, the founder of Li Auto, stated in an internal letter to employees that in 2025, the sales volume of smart electric vehicles in China is expected to exceed 8 million, and Li Auto’s goal is that by 2025 , Li Auto wants to capture more than 20% of China’s smart electric vehicle market share and become China’s number one smart electric vehicle company. Based on this target, Li Auto’s delivery volume will reach 1.6 million units in 2025.
Li Auto’s new delivery data shows that in September this year, Li Auto delivered 7,094 Li Auto ONEs, a year-on-year increase of 102.5% in September 2020. In the third quarter of 2021, Li Auto delivered a total of 25,116 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 190%. In the first nine months of 2021, Li Auto delivered a total of 55,270 vehicles. Since its delivery, the cumulative delivery volume of Ideal ONE has reached 88,867 units.
At present, Li Auto has only one Changzhou factory with an annual production capacity of only 100,000 vehicles. In the face of continuously increasing delivery volume, it seems that Li Auto's production capacity is approaching its upper limit. In its previous prospectus for the Hong Kong IPO, Li Auto disclosed that it will increase the annual output of its own Changzhou manufacturing base to 200,000 vehicles in 2022, which means an additional 100,000 vehicles will be added to the production capacity to continue the production of Li Auto ONE and subsequent extended-range models. .
However, based on Li Auto’s current market performance and subsequent new car plans and goals, Li Auto’s Changzhou factory alone is no longer enough to support the rapidly growing production capacity demand. Therefore, the successful construction of the second production base in Beijing will undoubtedly be an important step for Li Auto to further expand its product lineup and increase its market share.
