Another new project! Fujian’s pure electric river cruise is coming in August

On May 17, 2022, the province’s first inland river range-extended electric cargo ship, inspected by the local ship inspection agency of Fujian Province, officially started construction at Funing Heavy Industry. As part of the Minjiang River navigation resumption project, the first extended-range electric ship has been put into construction, which will provide an effective guarantee foundation for the next step of revitalizing the Minjiang River shipping. On December 13, Fujian's "Electric Minjiang" first DC charging demonstration scene for electric ships was officially launched at the maritime terminal in the Shuikou Dam area of the Minjiang River. Its commissioning will further accelerate the green and intelligent development of Fujian inland river ships and improve the quality and efficiency of Minjiang River shipping.
On February 20, 2023, the first pure electric inland river cruise ship on the Minjiang River was invested and built by Fuzhou Inland River Tourism Development Company and developed and designed by the Fujian Green Intelligent Ship Research Branch of the Yangtze River Ship Design Institute. The Provincial Shipbuilding Group's electric ship development and assembly base has successfully started construction. This is another new project undertaken by the base after delivering the first electric cargo ship "Wuyi 2" in the Minjiang River. The new project is expected to be launched in the Minjiang River in August and will be mainly used for sightseeing on the Minjiang River, leading more citizens and tourists to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the "Heart of the Minjiang River".
The inland river cruise project is a pilot demonstration project for electric ships in Fujian Province. The relevant scientific research topics are included in the 2022 key technological innovation and industrialization project support of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology.
As an important part of the quality upgrade of the "Minjiang Night Cruise" route, this modern double-decker pure electric cruise ship was invested and built by the Neihe Tourism Development Co., Ltd. The entire ship adopts a steel-aluminum hybrid structure , with a total length of 28 meters and a width of 7 meters. It adopts a twin-machine and two-propeller pure electric propulsion method. It has a designed maximum speed of 17.5 kilometers per hour and a range of up to 70 kilometers.
In addition, the ship’s power system is equipped with an 840kWh CATL marine power battery and adopts a twin-machine and two-propeller pure electric propulsion method. The design maximum speed is ≥17.5Km/h and the endurance is ≥70km.
In recent years, Fujian Province has accelerated the development of the electric ship industry by relying on its solid foundation in the shipbuilding industry, its advanced competitiveness in the power battery industry, and its rich application scenarios. The Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology has made great efforts to promote the pilot demonstration work of electric ships. So far, 17 electric ships of 5 types have been launched.
On September 27, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other five ministries and commissions listed Fujian Province as a pilot area for the development of green and intelligent inland watercraft ships, and the Minjiang River as a demonstration application river basin. The province’s accelerated development of the electric ship industry will bring new opportunities. The smooth implementation of this inland river cruise project will comprehensively promote the construction of "Electric Fujian" and build electric ships on the Minjiang River.Demonstration and application in river basins will play an important role in accelerating the electrification transformation and upgrading of inland river cruise ships.
